  • Measuring jug
  • Aluminum foil

Ingredients

  • 800 g starchy potatoes e.g. Russet or Maris Piper, peeled
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 300 ml heavy cream
  • 1 - 2 tsp salt or to taste

  • Peel the onion and slice thinly.
  • Lightly grease a baking dish.
  • Add the potato and onion slices to the dish.

  • Bake for 60 to 75 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden.
  • Let the dish rest for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to thicken.

Notes

  • Use starchy potatoes for the creamiest texture.
  • Slice the potatoes evenly to ensure they cook at the same rate.
  • For a richer version, you can add grated cheese on top before baking.
  • Pairs well with roasted meats, chicken, or vegetarian mains.
